Momma & Aidyn Enjoy the Morning Coffee!

OK, so truly being a parent directly related to morning coffee....there is really nothing better than that first sip....OH WAIT....it is even better when your little one want to join in..(NO...he does not drink coffee...but he does enjoy his mint tea!)

"Cheers" - Aidyn's fav phrase...most of the time it is more fun with a beer bottle, but coffee mugs work too. What a hoot!

This last shot...well I think it says it all. It is a bit grainy as Michael felt it was important to get the shot without the flash! LOVE IT!

Aidyn Polaroids..we honor the photo!

This post is a bit different...more about me than Aidyn...but you will understand after reading! I have been thinking a lot lately about photographs...mostly thinking about them and not shooting them...as life right now seems to be more spa/child/family/survival than photography. I was thinking about Michael and I taking a recent trip down to see his family in Milwaukee. We had a bitter sweet family reunion as we had a burial for Michael's grandmother. This always seems to be a time where we all sit down and look through photo albums.....remember those..yeah books that hold photos...beautiful sweet yellowing photos of us as children. And if we are really lucky pictures of past generations in that beautiful think cardstock of black and white.

OK, so the point of all of this is that I miss the photograph...the real true to life photograph. It saddens me that Aidyn will have a very different approach to photographs, and photo albums in all honesty will most likely be on his iPod...how strange. I got my first glimse of this as my cousin Ben sat on the couch with Aidyn one summer day and showed him his iPhone. Ben simply moved his finger across the screen and it moved to the next image...Aidyn instantly got it, grabbed the iPhone and scrolled through the pictures...one by one by one...HE IS TWO!!!!!

So, I have found a software for my computer, and I am sort of creating a suto-polaroid...a desire to create a memory of what used to be. It is fun, and yes it is digital, but it feels homey...it feels good and warm and fuzzy. So, I write this blog in tribute to old photographs and I PROMISE to be the one personally to show Aidyn real photographs, and make sure he has his own real albums along with his ipod...or god knows what they will be when he is a teen ager...I am not ready to think about that yet.

Enjoy!

Merry Christmas!

The holidays came and went...well..New Years is still comin', but still it is all happening way faster than I ever imagined. We headed down to Milwaukee for Christmas this year to be with Michael's family and some of my extended family members. Action packed to say the least. We got to spend an entire afternoon at the Waterpark, which was so painfully fun it is even hard to put into words...not the easiest place to photograph but still fun none the less.

We wanted this time to be all about spending time with family, since life has been incredibly busy for us and we do not get a chance to see family as much as we would really like to. Aidyn loved getting a chance to get to know his cousins a bit better, and he was in heaven with ALL the grandparents, aunts, uncles, second cousins, great grandparents...etc etc. We did celebrate Christmas Eve with my extended family...all 40 some people...and Aidyn was the star of the show....entertaining the entire evening! What a charmer!

Gifts this year seem to be all about Trucks, tractors, construction, and trains....anything that could make a loud engine sound or could push, shove, or remove dirt in any way possible. I would like to say I have a son who is a TRUE BOY!! I am all about the whole idea of Aidyn playing with whatever toy strikes his fancy...even dolls, but the genetics of boys comes through no matter what ya do...it is amazing! Anyway...boys will be boys.

We had an incredible time with family and we already miss them. We look forward to posting more images over the New Year to celebrate Aidyn's 2 birthday and moving into 2010!

Christmas Trees...Santa....Cookies..does it get any better?

Yup, Christmas....what fun to be had for a 2 year old! The snow has fallen, the tree was cut down, Santa came over to Bayfield on the ferry, and we decorated christmas cookies...this all happened in the first two weeks of December. This may give a clue as to why there has not been a posting in a while. Life has been very busy. I can tell you that both Michael and I have found a new appreciation for the holidays...there is such a great sense of love, laughter, and even excitement when it is seen through the eyes of an almost two year old.

We are working hard at getting Aidyn into the winter wonderland. This seems to be taking some time....he likes it...only to a point...once any part of him is remotely cold he is DONE! Step by step he will learn to love it.

Decorating cookies! WOW! What a blast to be had by all. Aidyn had a ton of fun, and actually did pretty darn well with the decorating and got outta there without eating a butt load of sugar. yeah mom and dad!

Enjoy the pics!

Aidyn Hits the Zoo!

Aidyn hits the zoo! What a blast for the whole family. Michael, Aidyn, and I spent the week with Michael's family and what a blast! Aidyn had never been to the zoo, so we were pretty excited to show him the new world of live animals. Hands down he loved the fish and turtles, sorry, no pics of that....it was super dark in there...trust me though, he loved it.

He was thrilled with the hyenas and the leopard...very fascinated by all of it. We took a train ride with Grammy and Ben which as a real treat for us all. We definitely look forward to taking him back.

Spending time with everyone was so fantastic, and Aidyn had so much fun playing with all of you. We look forward to Christmas, where playing and being entertained can start all over again!
