Weeks 16 & 17, nothing to exciting here. I am feeling very good and the energy seems to be coming back. I have found my appetite is getting better, I seem to always have something on hand.
Michael and I went to the doctor on Wednesday and all was well. The heartbeat is strong. I find the doctors appointments very interesting, it is sort of an in and out thing, nothing to dramatically exciting, not that I am complaining at all. I think one has these huge expectations of what it will be like, and really it is just a natural process that woman all go through.
The summer is flying by in Santa Fe, Michael has gone to Alaska for three weeks, one week of fishing with my dad and then a two week contract with NOLS and 8 astronauts. He is thrilled to be back up there, and I am quite jealous.
When Michael returns we will have our 20 week ultrasound, that will be great! I should start to feel movement these coming weeks, I will keep you all posted.

15 Weeks
Here I am at 15 weeks! This might seem slightly repetitive, but it is interesting to see the changes taking place one week at a time. Strange how I actually look smaller in week 14 and bigger in week 13, I have a feeling it makes a difference if I have eaten dinner or not!:)
I am feeling wonderful. The nausea has seemed to not be so intense...a sigh of relief. I did not have it very bad in the first place, but it is nice to know it is going away.
I have begun practicing my yoga again, with some slight modifications, it is feeling really good. I will hopefully remain doing Astanga Yoga throughout the pregnancy, even if I do have a huge belly.
12 Weeks.....we made it through the first trimester!
We made it! We got through the first three months with no worries at all! I think it is more of a relief to be able to share the news with people than anything. We got back from vacation and I got to go to work and share the news with everyone. I large sigh of relief to not have to hold that secret any longer with the people you spend the most time with. Everyone is very excited and are all taking very good care of me.
We had our 12 week appointment, all was healthy and well. Michael got to hear the heartbeat, that was so great!
Here is a picture of me, you will notice I will be in the same clothing and spot for every picture for the coming weeks. We have decided it would be a ton of fun to make a flip book of my tummy getting bigger! That is going to be a hoot!

11 Weeks!
We were thrilled to know we were going to be able to share the news with family and friends in person. We had planned a trip to Bayfield even before we knew we were going to have a baby. But, this made the trip even more fun. Michael and I talked for weeks about how we wanted to share the news with certain family members...was it going to be humorous, serious, sentimental? Well, you know us, we were going for humor...at least when it came to my parents and Kristen.
We arrived in Bayfield late on Friday, June 15th. Mom came to Duluth to pick us up. Man, who would have thought an hour and ten minute drive from Duluth to Bayfield would feel like an eternity. We both kept our traps shut, but knew as soon as we got to the Inn we would have to tell people. I had waited 6 weeks, there was NO WAY I was going to be able to keep it much longer.
We got to Pinehurst, got our stuff unloaded in our room and were figuring out how we wanted to tell mom, dad, and kristen. the idea was we would put a towel up my shirt and walk into the kitchen and michael would be videotaping the whole thing...basically see if they figure it out. I can not begin to tell you....it was hysterical! I would put the video up on the blog but I think my family would shoot me. Dad got it right away, then Kristen got it, and screamed...meanwhile my Mom got it, but was a little shocked...stood in one place for a while and then walked over in total excitement to give us hugs. It was brilliant and exactly how we wanted it to be.
We got to spend the rest of the week sharing news with friends and family. Nicole and Noah came up to visit, and I could not wait to tell her, she was thrilled, screamed, the whole bit it was brilliant. Michael's dad and wife Kathy also got to make it up for a brief weekend visit. We shared the news with them through a father's day card that said "Happy Father's Day Grandpa!" Again, nothing better than being able to share the news in person.
Above are several pics of the vacation and the wonderful people we got to be with. Thanks to all of you to shared with us!

The First Ultrasound!
The first ultrasound....WOW! Let me back up a bit. Most people only have an ultrasound this early if there is question of conception date. There was a slight confusion, and they wanted to make sure that they could try to get a date before it got to far along in the pregnancy. So, I headed off to get an ultrasound. Sat in a room with a big chair with a massive computer to the right of me, and a rather large flat screen monitor on the wall in front of me. Technology offically has blown me away. Michael was in the Northwest doing a kayaking course for NOLS, he was super bummed to have missed it, but we have pictures to show it, and i pretty much described everything on the phone to him...we all know me....I described everything I humanly could so he could feel like he was really there.
These pictures show the "little bean"....now the title is going to make some sense for you all! My first thought was...uh, it really looks like a bean. It was an inch long, and the heartbeat was at 171 beats per minute. I was dumbstruck to say the least! Check out our little bean!!
I would love to say I am one of those people that are on top of things and started by blog right when I found out I was pregnant. Nope.....I thought it would be better start it after the first trimester is all done..why..who knows, but you will all get caught up and enjoy the journey. We are psyched to provide pictures, funny stories, and anything else we find interesting and willing to share with all of you. ENJOY!
The Adventure begins!
